We are open!

Here are all the details you'll need about our re-opening and everything that will be on offer at our sites.


It seems like an eternity since we closed our doors on the 20th March, but we are super excited to be finally re-opening and welcoming back our Customers!

As you can imagine there will be a lot of changes put in place to ensure the safety of our customers and colleagues. 

Please ensure that you watch our Welcome Back video to give you an idea of what to expect on your first visit. 


We have taken a phased approach to re-opening, with Pontypool Active Living Centre being first to open on Monday 10th August followed by Cwmbran Stadium on Wednesday 12th August. Our other Centres will re-open shortly, so keep an eye out for updates!

We are currently operating at revised opening hours,  depending on Consumer demand and further guidance from Welsh Government in relation to physical distancing measures, we will aim in increase hours over the coming months.


Here is a breakdown of the changes put in place;

  • Every activity will need to be pre-booked, you will not be able to walk up to the centre without a booking as no payments will be taken on site. We are following a new 3 day booking system which means you can book your activity up to 3 days before.  All bookings must be made via the app or by telephoning our Bookings Line on 01633 627100.
  • If you are feeling unwell, please stay home and stay safe.
  • Face coverings will need to be worn in all communal areas, this includes queuing and changing areas. You will not be required to wear a face-covering when participating in physical activity.
  • Ensure you use the hand sanitising stations and handwashing facilities throughout your visit.
  • Memberships will restart from the day that our facilities open. We do not intend to restart Direct Debits until September 2020
  • If you have paid upfront for a membership, then please let us know that you wish to return: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. – We will be adding on our closure period to your membership to ensure that you have value for money.
  • There will be very limited changing facilities so please come to the centre dressed activity ready! If you're swimming please wear your swimwear underneath your clothing.
  • Please pre-shower before swimming and then shower at home after your swim.
  • Please ensure you bring a filled water bottle with you as our water fountains remain out of use.
  • Please be respectful and follow the social distancing guides and one way systems around the centre.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your chosen activity to enable our leisure concierges to check you in to your activity

NHS Test & Trace

It’s critical that we help to keep everyone safe by supporting NHS Test & Trace with detecting people who have recently come into close contact with COVID-19.

Containing outbreaks early is crucial to reduce the spread of COVID-19, protect the NHS and save lives. To do this we will collect your name, contact number and details of your visit. No additional data will be collected for this purpose. The accuracy of the information provided will be the responsibility of the individual who provides it.

Please note that the new regulations amendments that come into force today will make it obligatory for high-risk settings to collect contact details of customers, rather than the current approach of voluntary participation.
Please be aware that we will need to decline access to our facilities if you refuse to participate in NHS Test and Trace.  Please remember that these measures are being implemented for your safety and the safety of our TLT Colleagues.


Our Gyms have been spaced out over two rooms to ensure that our customers can still access the wide range of equipment that you are used to in our sites.

All Gym sessions will need to be pre-booked and we ask kindly customers to only book one session a day to ensure that everyone has the chance to get back to training again!

If you are looking to start up a new membership then this is what is currently on offer;

TLT Wellbeing Membership

This is a peak anytime membership and is priced at £33 per month. This membership will also include a new digital exercise platform for you to access at home. PLUS there is no fixed term contract! You can opt-out at any time. 


Current Direct Debit Members

We would like to thank all our members who remained loyal to us as a Trust there and did not cancel their memberships over the past few months! We are so grateful for your continued support of Torfaen Leisure Trust. By continuing with your membership it allows TLT to provide quality services at the heart of our community and ensures that we are able to secure local peoples employment

All memberships have been reactivated as of 10th August 2020 but the first payment will be taken in September 2020. Customers will continue to receive the current benefits of their membership. We will endeavour to reopen all sections of our facilities when safe to do so over coming months and in line with Welsh Government guidelines.

We are proud to tell you that as part of your membership and at no additional cost, as a thank you for keeping your membership with us, we will shortly be launching a new online digital exercise platform. Enabling you to exercise at home and also in our facilities. We will be issuing user guides on how to access this platform in the coming weeks!

If however, as a current DD member, you don't feel confident in returning just yet, you will have the option to continue to freeze your membership! Pay as you go customers 

We are still offering sessions on a pay as you go basis. Please note that all activities must be booked in advance via our Mobile App or by telephoning our Bookings Team on 01633 627100.

Unfortunately at present, there will be no off-peak pricing options. Gym sessions will be priced at £5.90 and monthly card options are as follows;

  • Peak adult  monthly card £42
  • NERS peak monthly card £35
  • Peak senior monthly card £35
  • Peak 16-18/Student monthly card £25

 A peak membership with digital platform free of charge included only equates to just six visits per month! 



Exclusive NHS Membership

We are offering all NHS workers a discounted Membership rate to say thank you for all your services during this pandemic. This includes the benefits of a peak anytime membership at a reduced rate of just £22 per month. Carers, with a valid carers card can also access this discount.


12-15 (£16) & 16-18/Student (£25) Monthly Cards

We are still offering our above Memberships but due to guidance with regards to COVID-19, they will be required to attend with a responsible paying adult 18 years and over. The ratio will be two children to one adult.

Personal training will restart on reopening. This will take place in new fitness suites, separate from the main gyms.

With regards to gym partners, if you are from the same household bubble then you are able to exercise together. We would still request where possible that you practice social distancing and inform the fitness assistant that you are from the same household, as would be shown on your membership profiles


Running Track

Our Running track is now re-open for individual use. You can book a 1 hour session for the Running Track via our Mobile App or by calling our Bookings Team on 01633 627100. The same 3 day booking system will apply for these sessions.

Swim Lessons

We know you are all just as eager as we are to get all your little (and big ones) into the pool and back to swimming lessons! 

Guidance from the Welsh Government is continually changing and we are pleased to announce; that as long as nothing currently changes and the rate of infection remains low, we hope to restart our swimming programme in September! 


To introduce everyone back to the water, we will be offering an initial 5 week course, we anticipate this will be from September 7th until October 11th.   This will use your 5weeks’ worth of credits that we currently hold.  Your children will need to arrive at our centres ‘beach’ ready, this simply means wearing a costume under clothes so too minimise the time in the changing rooms.  At this time there will be no showers available after your lessons.  All customers will be contacted via email and/or telephone to book on this term, however, whilst we are working hard to maximise our pool space, our programme has been reduced to ensure the safety of our colleagues and customers.  Unfortunately, this means your current slot may not be available at present however we will ensure we do our very best to secure you a suitable space. 


Behind the scenes, our team have been working hard on a new and exciting system for our Nofio Swim Academy ready to launch in October.  This will include a new home portal where you will be able to pay for your lessons more efficiently and be able to track your child’s swim progress!!  We are very excited about this and cannot wait to share with you!


Whilst we understand you are keen to get your children booked in, please be patient with us whilst we allocate all sessions as this may take a while to work through all our customers.

Causal Swim

Whilst we begin to introduce activities back into our centres, our pool programme will look very different.  At present we will only be offering limited adult lane swim sessions and whilst we understand you might be disappointed that old/preferred time might not be able right now, please try and visit us in 1 of our other sessions!

Our pool programme will be reviewed continually as the current guidance changes.

You will book for a 1-hour slot and will need to arrive beach ready (Swimwear underneath). Sessions are bookable via our app or by contacting our bookings team on 01633 627100.  Please choose an appropriate lane for your swim ability, Slow, Medium or Fast and be prepared to move lanes if needed.  There will only be a maximum of 3 customers per lane to begin with.

Our Group Exercise programme will now take place in the Sports Hall at Cwmbran Stadium and Pontypool ALC.

All classes using equipment will be sanitised after every use. If you are attending classes such as Yoga and Pilates, please bring your own mats where possible.

At present, we will have a revised and limited timetable while we are going through reduced capacity. We have also now moved to a 3 day booking system, so please bear this in mind when trying to book your classes. Now more than ever, it is really important that if you cannot make sessions you cancel your place ASAP. There will be so many customers trying to get spaces for each class, so please be considerate to other members and ensure you cancel your place to be able to offer it out to someone else.  We will have to adopt a no-tolerance approach to non-attendance to classes.  This has always been a problem at Torfaen Leisure Trust and now more than ever we need to ensure that spaces for physical activity are maximised. There will be one-way system in place so please follow the instructions of the leisure concierge who will direct you through the centre.

Squash and Badminton are now available to book via our Mobile App or by calling the Bookings Team on 01633 627100. 

Courts are bookable for singles only, with your own or extended household bubble. Unfortunately, equipment hire is not available so please ensure you bring your own.


Unfortunately, areas such as our Soft Play areas, Children's Activities and Health Suites will be unavailable at the moment. We are working hard to get these areas back up and running and will let you know as soon as we can!
